WE TAKE SOMETHING THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN WASTED AND MAKE SOMETHING GOOD OUT OF IT.
WHAT WE DO
We are a leading model of organic waste recovery and reuse. We recycle resources to increase awareness and actions leading to a more sustainable community.
We process food waste, green waste, spent grains, and herbivore manures and make high quality compost using an aerobic process.
Our focus in Detroit is also on blight removal and neighborhood beautification, building strong ties with neighbors, providing environmental awareness and education, creating long-term employment opportunities, and rebuilding for the next generation.
HOW WE DO IT
We pick up food waste from large companies like General Motors, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and the Detroit Zoo. We make high quality compost available for sale to local urban gardeners and farmers.
Pashon Murray has a drive for waste reduction, recycling, and reuse of materials. She is helping to change the carbon footprint of Detroit through revitalizing neighborhoods, finding solutions for everyday waste, and eliminating trips to the landfill through composting.
In 2010 Murray started Detroit Dirt, a local composting and waste collection company that specializes in providing a sustainable option for the metro Detroit community. Detroit Dirt’s closed-loop model process was designed by Murray to help revitalize Detroit.
Pashon loves educating others about sustainability and is available to speak!
